Monthly Cleaning Chores That Keep Your Home Pristine

At Everton Ridge, we are proud to build homes that those in our community can create lives in. And if you are someone who needs to balance a busy work schedule, family time, and time for yourself, throwing cleaning on top of that can be a lot. But it does not have to be! If you create a rotating monthly schedule with these cleaning chores on them, you will surely see that keeping on top of cleaning can be quick and easy.

Dust

Sitting down to relax on the couch after a long day can be quite nice. That is until your eyes wander towards the ceiling and you notice a thick layer of dust on your ceiling fan. These out of reach fixtures are often some of the most neglected but pulling your ladder out once a month to dust them can go a long way in helping your home remain tidy.

And while you are dusting, why not look at your HVAC vent covers. These are notorious for collecting dust. Wiping these down or vacuuming them with an attachment can not only contribute to a clean look, but it will also prevent your systems from running inefficiently or from blowing dust further throughout your home.

Other things you may want to add to your monthly dusting schedule as well could include, blinds, drapes, walls, and furniture.

Disinfect

You likely disinfect your kitchen counters and bathrooms on a more regular basis than just monthly, but there are a few household items that could use the same treatment occasionally. For example, you probably do not pay much mind to cleaning out your garbage cans. Afterall, you line them with bags anyway. But bacteria and odors can still develop on the inside. For this reason, it is not a bad idea to wipe down the inside of your garbage can and maybe even sprinkle some baking soda down at the bottom every month to keep it fresh.

An additional item to consider when disinfecting is your garbage disposal. Your garbage disposal’s purpose is to break down and dispose of kitchen scraps. So, it is not surprising that if not given proper care, it can develop some nasty odors and issues. You can often avoid the negative side effects of an underperforming garbage disposal by sprinkling a half cup of baking soda down the drain, following that up with a cup of white vinegar, and then chasing that with a few cups of boiling water. Doing this monthly should keep your garbage disposal in tip top shape.

The items that we discussed today are often the ones you do not initially think of, but they are ones that can make housework feel overwhelming if neglected for too long. By giving them a little attention once a month, it can help you to always have a neat and clean home to enjoy.
