Deciding to build our new home in the Okanagan (Vernon specifically) was easy, the area has so much to offer with beautiful lakes, mountain views, wineries, golf courses, Silver Star Ski Resort and so much more; we knew we could not go wrong.

Choosing to build with Jacob and the team at Everton Ridge Homes (ERH) was just as simple of a decision; since our first meeting everyone we have dealt with has been absolutely fantastic. Its clear ERH has invested significant time and resources into developing programs and systems to guide you through the building process every step of the way.

Our experience dealing with Michele (MJ) and Garth specifically has been and continues to be above reproach.

Nobody could have ever expected we would be constructing our home amid the COVID-19 Pandemic, but here we are. Fortunately for us ERH reacted swiftly, taking measures to keep their team and sub trades on site safe while still maintaining an emphasis on progressing with our project.

Our build remains on schedule and the communication from the ERH Team has allowed us to maintain confidence that we will be able to move into our new home this summer as planned.

If you are going to build a new home, it should be somewhere you WANT to live, like the Okanagan, and you should build with someone you can trust and have confidence in like Everton Ridge Homes.

We retired here last year, and it’s proving to be a great decision!

The new house is all we’d hoped for and generates lots of compliments from friends old and new. Decorating it has been fun but with the early arrival of spring in Vernon (still snowing back in Alberta) we are spending more time outside now. The environment here is spectacular, clean and quiet, with long views across the lake and the nighttime sparkle of lights in town. And there’s lots of wildlife and birdwatching opportunities too.

We are still exploring but have already found several good restaurants and pubs and locally-owned stores in town. There’s a good symphony orchestra, a jazz club, film societies, and a funky old hotel bar. Local produce from the markets and farm gates is superb, as are the local ciders and the craft distillery’s gin and single malt. And the wineries – so many wineries, so little time!

Our neighbours are all transplants like us, at similar a stage of life, so it’s easy to make new friends. People here are quite active, and we often meet neighbours while out walking the extensive trails around Adventure Bay, heading up into the hills or down to our community beach and dock. It’s been many years since we were last on bicycles, but you really don’t forget how, and now we’re getting out on the Rail Trail and other cycle paths. Learning pickleball on our local courts is coming up next. And the neighbours are threatening to take us snowshoeing next winter. In the meantime, we’re wondering about kayaks.

Life is good in Adventure Bay. Why did we wait so long?

I know it is also important to you to keep things rolling but obviously it’s important to me and my company. I appreciate the work and efforts of the Everton Ridge team to keep the ball rolling in these difficult times.
